the lights on my isturment cluster quit a few weeks ago and i havent been able to fix the problem. i have ran a ohm meter over the entire back circut board and its all connected. so that leads me to belive theres a wire broken in its sleeve or dissconneted somewhere. is there any possibility someone can tell me what wires get power, how many volts and witch ones are grounds? any help would be greatly appreciated. nothing works but the speedo and a light that says low fuel economy. what does that light mean anyways?
Light blue with a red stripe is the light wire. Black is the ground wire. There is a fat wire that has only 1 strand in it that is also some sort of ground, but I don't know how it exactly ties in to the regular ground.
Did you try twisting the headlight ****? It dims the dash lights, some people don't know this will turn them off too. Do the lights in the heater control work? If not, then you have a problem with the headlight switch or wiring. Test for power at the blue w/red stripe wire on instrument cluster connector. If power there, check that the connections are clean a tight. Let us know what you find.
Well first off, there is a fuse for that system.
Then there is the Rheostat part of the Headlight switch that controls the dimming of the lights (previously mentioned).
There is the grounding system from the cluster to the dash framework.
Then the flexible printed circuit that distributes the power to the related items.
Finally the physical condition of the sockets & bulb holders in relation to the cluster back that has the discouraging reaction of crumbling which affects the circuitry.
I assume you are looking for the wiring schematic for the printed circuit ?
There's no diagram for the PC in Haynes either. They list the wire colors as PC if it's on the printed circuit board.
I did map the plug that goes into the PC last week when I built a custom dash for my 78 F150, though. If you look at the harness, each wire is numbered. This might help trace which wire/circuit it for what.

Would it be possible to put the previous post in the tech section, so "electrically challenged" people like myself could reference the wiring scheme for the dash. To me, this is invaluable info. Thank You, Kevin.
