Well damn! After 7200 miles on my 2005 F-150 Lariat Screw I have to take it in to the dealer for the FIRST TIME! Caught a stone on my way to work on Tuesday and on my way home I noticed a 12 inch crack. Windshield will be replaced by the dealer on Friday. I do have a couple of questions if anyone can help. Seems like I get hit with a lot of stones since I owned this truck. Anyone else notice an increase in stones off the windshield? I'm wondering if its because I'm sitting up higher now, it's the size of the windshield, or just coincidence. Also, does anyone know how much an F-150 windshield + installation costs? My insurance is covering the replacement so I didn't bother to ask. Finally, anything I should look out for after the replacement?
At least you should be getting Ford glass by having it replaced at the dealer. I' d watch for leaks after the install and check the glass very closely for the wavy lines that some have reported..
I picked up a rock within 3 weeks of getting my truck. This truck does seem to pick up more stones than my '02 though. I had a glass guy come and replace it in my driveway. My comprehensive was 100 deductible. I am not sure what the windshield cost was though.
Mine has been getting pelted with stones since I bought it. I need a new windshield too. Those darn bug and stone deflectors dont work. When will they invent a windshield that wont chip or crack??? I think it is the beauty of these trucks that are attracting these stones.
