My fiance is from the big city and I'm a backwoods yokel. Every time we go visit my folks we pass several dairy/beef farms and she asks me if cows get bored. I never really ask a cow if it was bored. How 'bout you guys? I contend that they do not get bored because they don't know any better.
OK Dennis ... I gotta call ya on this one..... they KNOW they are gonna get butchered some day? First off... who blabbed? Second off .... who gave 'em the phone cards to call all those other herds? And lastly ... who bought the cell phones for all these tattle-tail cows anyway?!!
Speaking of which...I had to fill up on the way home today, and pulled into my fave cheapo gas station. Choice was, pull up behind a gooseneck full of bovines, or an Explorer towing a couple of sheep. I love my commute!
They're no geniuses, I'll agree to that. But having had sheep, (no, not like THAT!) I would have to say that THEY take the cake as the dumbest of the dumb. I've seen one dash for a hole in the fence and get caught in it, only to have all the others follow. "Oh look, Morty's makin' a break for it, I guess we oughta do the same!" And the better grazing is on their side of the fence, there's no reason to go through. I guess the grass is always greener...! And of course, they don't learn from their mistakes, they just keep doing the same stupid stuff over and over. I really detest sheep. Cows however, are at least sort of cute. -TD
