Need printer/scanner advice

My scanner is messing up & I'm going to buy a printer/scanner combo. Which one would you guys recommend? I want it to scan, print, & do good quality photo prints.
Thanks

I now have an HP 4110 all in one that works great.
HP has already proven itself with quality when it comes to printers.

HP Ink is better than most & that's why I choose HP.

My brother got a Lexmark all-in-one recently. It's ok, but not good enough for "photo quality"

How:
  • much do you want to spend
  • fast do you want it to print
  • " " " " " " scan/copy
  • much resolution for scanning
I am also looking for one PSC w/fax. I had kind of decided on the HP 2610 but now am leaning to the Canon 780. It has separate cartridges for each color and a document feed for copy/scan/fax. You can also have two paper types loaded and select which to use. They both have Pictbridge technology. The HP is much more compact. I want to use mine wireless and HP has a 2710 model w/WiFi but I would probably go with a print server to get this done as then you can hook any printer to it.

I just bought a Canon document/photo printer. I think it is the IPMX3000?? Or something like that. It prints very fast crisp documents. And the photo quality is amazing. It will print 4x6 bordered or borderless photos in less a minute. I highly recommend reading the online product reviews before making your purchase. Do a search on the web for printers. You will see that the general consensus is that the best photo prints will not be found with the combination photo/document printers/scanners. I use a seperate Imax scanner. I also found it very helpful to visit each manufacturers website to find out if the printers that I was looking at were still current products or if they were discontinued. These things change almost as fast as the computers themselves. Good luck with your decision.

Good advice Ron, check the resolution offered by the combo's, they never seem to be as high as the stand-alone printers and scanners. I have always steered clear of the combo's for one reason, when something brakes, I only have to replace one thing.

  • speed isn't as important as quality

Thanks, guys for your input.

I have a HP Officejet 6210 (250 to 300 bucks)and bought my Mom an HP Officejet 2610 All in one . They are OK, my mom is very happy with the photo quality, the 2610 was about $130.00. They seem to be working fine with winXP, and haven't had any hangups yet.

I had a Lexmark, they are inexpensive, don't last as long as they should, and the ink is more expensive.

One bad thing about this series of HP officejet, is that they come with 800MByte programs and they install too many icons and too many running processes are added to your PC( I think my PC has been slowed down a little bit). I like my printer tools to hide away until I need them, but the HP default installation slops up your desktop and taskbars.
