what are you guys using for pc photo printers
i had an epson photo r200,that has apparently bought the farm. i havent used it in about a year and its all froze up to hell for some reason. i was in best buy last night and didnt buy anything, a ton to choose from..need some input and do some research
what are you guys using for printers, i want to do my own photos like i used to be able to do. i dont care for faxing or copying, just basic pc printing, but want good photos, and not break the bank doing it. i was looking at some canons, i know they have good cameras. i dont mind epsons. i dont have any experience with HP or kodak

I've got a Canon photo printer. Does okay with the 4x6, haven't tried anything bigger than that, and not in a couple years. Goes through ink pretty fast too. Not too bad on documents, my wife prints a lot of tags for craft sales and things like that. I usually just print screens, and itemized tool lists.

I found it is cheaper to upload to the local Fred Meyer, Walmart, Costco, whatever and have them print them out.
If it is just a couple of shots here and there the printer is handy, but to print out a whole batch of almost takes longer and is more expensive than uploading and picking them up down the street.
With that said, I use an HP 6280 all-in-one.
It is a printer, scanner, fax machine, copier, etc.
It has six different color cartridges and the photos come out looking very good.
They don't offer the 6280 anymore, but here is a link to the 6380 which if very similar.
HP® Official Store — Buy an HP Photosmart C6380 All-in-One Printer, Scanner, Copier (CD028A#ABA) from HP
Addition: One thing I like about this printer is it has two paper trays so you can print 4x6 or regular sized paper without having to change trays. Just tell it what you want to print and it does it for you.

Very happy with ours:Product informationHP Deskjet 3845 Color Inkjet Printer (we have the 3845).
I print all the photos, but the wife/bookeeper uses it to print all our address and shipping labels, along with the FIL's freight co.'s labels. I like it because it doesn't take up much space on the desk, the quality of the prints is good, and easy to use. What I don't like is the cost of ink and photo paper, but that's a given......

For color printing I use a Samsung CLP-510 laser printer. For photos I use a Canon Pixma 3000. I've used Epsons and HPs, they don't come close when you look at the details. Some of the Epsons are close but they cost an arm and a leg to operate. If you get one of the older ip3000 series they are one of the cheapest color printers to operate (there are some companies which sell external ink tanks for them that last forever because the heads don't wear out). I order photo paper online, it costs about 70% less than buying it at the store.
For the best photos the lower end printers aren't going to touch the higher end printers, but the problem is these things get obsolete so fast.

I use a small epson picture mate. Very portable when we go on trips and want to print on the spot, and leave photos with friends, transfers photos from memory card to memory stick, so you never run out of memory, and is very affordable on ink. You buy the ink with 100 paper in one pack, and we get close to 200 prints from one ink pack. Very good quality pictures, and non smugging or wetting paper, and prints dry to touch in about a minute. Printer is about 10x6x5 inches. The newer ones come with a small screen so you can print without pc, and even have battery packs to be truly portable.
On a side note, whatever u end up getting, make sure you use atleast 6 color printing for pictures.
For all the other printing, a cheapo lazer jet, runs about $60.00 and the ink lasts forever.

We use a HP all in one printer, scanner, and have had good luck with it. Don't know the number of it but it is one of the lower end models. It does go through a fair amount of ink but some of that will depend on the pixels that you have. Have seen advertised a new Kodak printer that is suppose to have a lot cheaper ink which might be worth looking at.
