Question Fram Sure drain??

Is anyone using this product? I was thinking about it but am a little apprehensive. If there was a problem, you could lose all of your oil quickly,...then your engine.

Hey, I have seen that same product in many auto part stores near my house, and I never see them sell, so I asked about them, and the guy at Auto Zone told me that if you don't get it in right the first time, you will strip the threads on the oil pan, and have unstopable leaks. He said it's not even that handy, it's just as easy to use a ratchet and socket and do it the good old way. I personally dont think it's worth taking the risk of losing all your oil on the road like you said in your original post.

Thumbs up Sure Drain works for me!

I have had two of them so far, one in a 1994 Bronco and now one in my 2003 Screw. I can see where if you cross thread the pan you could have problems but to me it went in fine with ease. The convenience for me is what I bought the product for. Failure of the system can only occur if cross threaded as there is a sealed cap that screws on over the "trap door" used when changing the oil.

I bought a "brass" oil pan fitting kit. This brass fitting screws into the oil pan with no issues. Even if I cross threaded it the brass would booger up before the pan.
It's easy to change my oil now with the hose it comes with and a couple of gallon milk bottles. No leaks.
You could even change it when travelling.

Thanks everybody. I'm going to think about it awhile. I'm just tired of oil on my garage floor. It seems like no matter what I do, I always end up with oil on the floor. I don't care about the stain on the floor. I do care about the carpet inside the door from the garage into the house. Besides, I can't gripe about those stinking cat litter boxes if I track up the carpet. Also, my 2 yr old son likes to "work with me" in the garage while I'm working on stuff. I gotta keep it a little cleaner.

I suppose if you think about it, every time you change your oil you could mess up the threads if you cross thread the original plug. I've never used this product, but if you put it in carefully the first time, you never have to worry about the chance of cross threading things. Do it once and it stays there forever, as opposed to removing & reinstalling the plug over 30 times in 100,000 miles (@ 3,000 mile intervals).
