On a 95 4x4,F150,5.8,3.55 rear. Does the pumpkin have a gasket on it or do they just use silicone? I need to change out the fluid. If it doesn't, can someone suggest what year and other model vehicle's I can use?
The 8.8" should have a gasket. My 90 does, and so did another 94. I believe it cost around $4 at the local parts store and I always use the Black ATF that's designed for Oil Pan Gaskets, on both sides of the gasket when I replace it.
I do plan on using synthetic gear lube for the rear, from what I"ve read I should use 75W-140, correct?. As well as the Ford Friction modifier. I only have 56k on the truck and it runs great, I'm trying to keep it that way. I'm doing the full tune up on it, plugs, cap, button, filters (gas, air, oil). Tranny just got rebuilt so I hope it's good for a while. Belt and whatever else I can think of.

Jim, I have 95 power stroke F250 and have the Ford manual. I looked up your truck and, according to the manual, it does not have a gasket. They say to use a contiouous bead of Ford silicone D6AZ-19562-AA or D6AZ-19562-BA or equivalent applied to the cover. Be sure both mating surfaces are clean and the bead goes to the inside of the bolt holes. Install the cover within 15 minutes of applying the silicone. Torque mounting bolts in a criss-cross pattern to 28-38 ft/lbs. Wait one hour before filling diff.
Hope this helps -- Dave (certified redneck and proud of it)
You might be a redneck if ---------- your best car is a truck.
