Turing off interior lights

I have a 01 SuperCrew F-150 Lariat. I was wonder if it is possible to be able to manually turn off the interior lights so they do not come on when you open the doors.

I want to be able to turn off the lights especially when I am detailing my interior while the doors are open. Some vehicles have the option on the dimmer switch to do this.

Am I missing something and there is a way to do this or will it require a modification?

You can look in your manual to see if they have this option. If you do not have an owner's manual, you may be able to buy one at www.helminc.com. Otherwise, you may have to do some wiring modifications.

You may want to ask around on the F150 forum. I did this on ny 2002 F350 - it was really easy - Cut a switch in on a particular wire behind the passanger kick panel. It's a great mod to be able to have the stereo on with the doors open, and be able to turn off the interior and bed lights
