The M5OD is going out on my 1996, and I am wondering what the best replacement is. What do you all reccomend? Get it rebuilt, get a new M5OD, or go with something else. If you say something else, tell me what to use.

Thanks,
Steve

If you were happy with your ratios, get the M5 fixed.

If you wanted a low first gear, look for a ZF.

i agree with the above post.

The ZF has a granny low and a slightly taller OD gear. Its a bit more of a spread. Its also a much beefier transmission.

If the m5od treated you well then i would have that one rebuilt. The ZF trannys aren't cheap.
