changing belts on a 292

My roommate is out there undoing the motor mounts on his 292 because the front bolt is blocking him from putting on a new belt. Is there an easier way?

I think the best advise is to tell your roomate to stop, take a breather, ask some questions, and then proceed. The only thing you need to do to change most Y belts is to relax tension on the generator/alternator.

Hey, this is the roommate. Firstly, I did get the belt installed. I could not do it by just loosening the generator, though...the problem was that I could not get the belt past the bolt on the front motor mount...it was literally right next to the balancer. What I ended up doing was taking out the four bolts mounting the mount to the block and loosening the one to the frame, and jacking up the front of the engine.

yeah me too. this truck is being very poor. tommorrow I will begin again trying to put on the flywheel. For some reason I think this truck was meant to be non-operable.
