Anybody know what the correct engine color is for my 61 292 v8.. valve colors are orange.... intake manifold looks like it was red or orange... not sure what color the block should be painted.. I'm guessing probably orange.
What do u think....I'm changing the valve covers to chrome..
IIRC some of the blocks weren't painted at
all, but you'd need to verify that with
some of the older members...who may, or may not
remember such stuff...

Yes dear, that model used all!!!"Ford Red"for the block and valve covers, now on the 64's they used black on the block and red on valve covers. Before 1960,most all had ford red block with black valve covers.Ford Red engine paint is sold at auto zone,it's a deeper darker red than chevy orange red...Janet
Not so fast, Janet The '64 OE engine colors for the 292 Y were black block and blue valve covers. That said, I can't be sure that Ford did not use other colors, but I have a literature verification for what I've just said (can I recall the specific reference as this is written? No, but it's in a post that I responded to on this very site a little over a year ago).
