Hitachi Tv

Hey guys,
Im thinking im gonna buy me a new tv when i get my tax return.
I am most likely going to go with Hitachi (the one at my moms is still kickin 'er, had it for a longggg time)

I was looking at the 70VX915 model, which is a 70". LCD one.
I will probably only get a 60" or so, Should be big enough.
I came across ths, Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) Projection.
Is this better than LCD or what?
Im also trying to find the company that makes the lcd (might be plasma) with the ambeon lights come out the sides..anyone know?

Any comments or feedback about Hitachi and their big screens?

CRT is the old projection. Old technology and on the way out.
New technology is LCD, DLP, and plasma.

I would get the LCD tv. my brother has one and it's absolutely wonderful to watch. The picture quality is the best I've seen, and you dont have to worry about burn- in . I have a 50" projection tv and when there is a blue screen you can see the word "live" is burned into the bottom right of the tv screen . "Burn-in" is a big problem with plasma tv's too .

LCD and DLP do not have the burn in problem. I have a 61" DLP and love it. They are out now that they are only 7" deep. One other problem with projection CRT is convergence. They have 3 guns and if not adjusted properly you will have a picture with dfferent color edges and blurry images. The DLP are also projection, but only have 1 lens. The LCD are probably going to be a bit more expensive than DLP.
Here are is a comparisons between the 2. I did not include plasma, as you need a REALLY good refund check to afford them.

Next question, is are you going for a regular TV, HDTV ready, or HDTV. I personally wouldn't go for the regular TV any more. In a few years, if all goes according to FCC rules, you will need to buy something to be able to watch it as everything will be converted over to digital and HD.

Oh, yeah definately the HDTV for sure. Gonna go big might as well go good too. No point in 'cheapin' out.
With this burn-in problem, why does it show 'live', And what causes this?
Im gonna read that buying guide, thanks guys.

Burn in is where you have an unmoving image (or lack of an image) for long periods of time. An example is on a 16x9 TV. Most current TV shows are still 4x3. This means that there are bars on each side of the screen. On TVs that have a burn in problem, they usually have an option to make these bars gray instead of black. This limits the amount of burn in.
Burn in is basically an image burned into the coating on the lenses of the projection TV or palsma screen.
Why the word "live" is burned in, I do not know. This would require a LOT of TV where that word is on screen.

"live" is burned into my screen because the channel I watch broadcasts live and they put "live" at the bottom right of the screen to let everyone know that it's l"ive". So my tv stays on this station sometime all day long and over time it has burned into the screen. Now it's there permanitly and can be seen no matter what I'm watching.
