My 85' Ford F-150 .302 engine Automatic keeps stalling out. When I approach a stop and get ready to take off I step on the gas peddle and it stalls out on me it also does this on turns can anyone give me some advice to solve this problem
This same problem has plagued me for several years and I have spent much money and time trying to fix it. In essence, I have replaced every part that could have caused the problem and I just about have it licked.
My first thought was carburator, I have a holley 4 barrel. I had it rebuilt a few years ago, so I just replaced it with an aftermarket Holley. The car ran better, but it still stalled when I gave it gas. I set the floats so the gas just trickles out the sight hole, and it still did not work.
I changed the fuel pump - it was only a few bucks but it made no difference at all. BTW I get 8 on my gauge for pressure.
I searched for a vac leak and found none.
Then the bronco died and did not start. After the process of elimination, I found out my timing chain had slipped. Turned out it was real loose, I replaced it and set the timing again and the hesitation was all but gone! Good Luck.
