I have a 92 Explorer and a mystery. There is a bar that runs from one side of the engine compartment to the other. The bar rests on top of the radiator and hangs down in front of the radiator overflow reservoir.
It is held in place simply with clips. The bar is shaped like a large crank and is flattened on the straight end. The end looks like it is designed to fit into some opening.
I have heard of some such device that is designed to counteract engine torque (on shutdown?). Could this be that device? Right now it just hangs down as only one clip and gravity is holding it in place.
Never had to use that jack. Use to carry a portable floor jack years ago. Since then have never had a flat away from the house or a leak that couldn't wait til I made it home.
Yea, it's the tire, when you lift up your back door, rightt under the black insulation stuff you will see a small hole. Put the flat end of the bar into that hole and crank down your spare tire.
