'91 power window problems

I recently purchased a '91 F350 crewcab 4x4. The power windows weren't working when I got it. The previous owner said that they had both quit at the same time, so I'm guessing the problem isn't the motor(s), and the switches sound like they're making good contact. I checked the circuit breaker in the fuse box under the dash, it tested good - tried a new one anyway, still no good. Several people have told me that there should be another fuse, but where? Or is the problem likely something else?

Thanks for any help.

Welcome to FTE. If it is like mine there are four wires to the switsh on the drivers side. One is hot, one is ground, two go to the other door. I only have two doors. If you have four doors I think you will have a bigger switch and more wires. Check your ground. Then check power at the switches. Clean the contacts. If you have power to the switches, then see if power is getting to the motor. If no power to the switches, trace the wire back to find the problem. I think my power was red/blue line, and ground was black. Check a book to be sure what yours is. Also I only have one fuse. Good luck with it.

Thanks Trike, I'll give that a try. I do have four doors, but power windows only in the front, so it shouldn't be any different.

Just a quick update. Checked everything and had power to the motors, so I had to replace the motors. Guess I should know better than to believe they really quit at exactly the same time...lol. Anyway, thanks again Trike.
