No sparky!!!
Sorry I'm lazy so this is the same thread as in the swap forum
Hey guys I've got a problem with my install. This stupid project was supposed to be a quick swap, I bought a complete mustang with a 3.8L V6 that was hit in the rear. I swapped the complete engine and tranny, as well as the wiring harness. The first problem arose when I hooked the wrong wire to the field post on the alternator and ran 19 volts through the computer, cooking it. Then a second ecu. Now with the proper field wire hooked up, and a third ecu it ran poorly for a few minutes and died. I have no spark. I just spent a 165 bucks on a (vfi-4?) for the side of the distributor to no avail. Any help? Any ideas? I'm fresh out and fed up. I have 12v to the coil. I even tried a different coil in it just kinda slapped in with wires twisted on the terminals. nothing is working. Please any ideas to troubleshoot are greatly appreciated. What year mustang was it? What year truck did you put it in? What engine did the truck originally have? Did you go fuel injection to fuel injection, or carb to fuel injection? Or stay with a carb?
