>Xaviar, what did you end up
>doing about the pump noise?
Well, I have given up on this pump. The pump still whines, so I'll be replacing it with a "AGR pump". It seems Ford has left us with crappy pumps to deal with. A friend bought a GT Mustang and it whines too. I'd say this is pathetic. Went to AGR's web site and looked up my application. $130 bucks for new pump. Summit sells the AGR also for $139. I'll buy it direct. Should have it in 2 weeks.
I'll let you guys know of the outcome with the new pump. Thanks for all the help.
I have not replaced my pump yet. It was either buy a new cam/lifters or the AGR pump. The cam and lifters won.....LOL.
I'm not driving the truck that much anymore. Been putting too many miles on it. Right now it has 86K on it. I'm still planning to replace the pump with a AGR, but will wait till summer to do it.
Gotta get the other project finished.......heheheh
I understand about the noisy pump---mine, on my '92 F150, is noisy and has been since I bought the truck last year. When it really gets bad, I add a little oil and it gets "less noisy" for a while. One of my friends was "ragging" me about it, and my reply was, "The noise lets me know that it is still working---if I don't hear the noise, I get nervous---it might not be working." Since most Fords of this gendre make the noise, either enjoy the $$$$ saved by not replacing it because it is noisy, or turn up the radio---then the noise goes away.
I replaced the pump in my 88 not too long after I did the engine swap. I bought a new (not reamanned) pump from Autozone, for around $60. And it's been on there almost 2 years now, not one whine or whimper out of it yet. But I will look into the switch over in lubes on the pump.
