My question to you
Some Weenies complained to Wal-Mart about little girls playing with this toy and the company pulled it. What bothers these people about this toy? Is it the fact that the parents are the opposite sex? The wedding ring too old fashioned for today’s out of wedlock babes? They don't want little girls finding out where babies come from? Thought it would be a great learning tool for parents?
I'm really curious, if you have a thought on this, please share.
As a little background for you, consider this. Most people believe that steroids in cattle and fowl have children maturing much earlier than years past. Scientists say that within ten years, we will have a second grade child get pregnant in school with another second grade child.
After you're done laughing and making jokes, think about having 'THAT' talk to your first grade child.

You have your facts a little wrong here. You can't blame the liberals for this one -- the "weenies" you refer to are conservatives. They complained that "Midge" does NOT come with a husband. Yes, Mattel makes a doll that is supposedly Midge's husband, but it is packaged and sold separately. Thus, the box on Wal-Mart's shelf has Midge and a baby in it, but no husband. The right wing religious wackos apparently believe: (1) that their kids are too stupid to figure out that Midge is married, despite the wedding ring; and (2) they will learn morality from their toys and not their parents. Of course, it would all be o.k. if "Midge" was in the same box as her husband. I guess they also figure that married women should be on short leashes attached to their husbands at all times. Otherwise, people might see them without their husbands and assume that they are tramps and prostitutes!
>mention politics. :-)
Thank You, a Weenie is a Weenie, Liberal or Conservative, they know who they are
I'm still appalled at 2nd graders getting knocked up before they know what that means. ...... I guess I was wrong.
I know Barbie married that guy with the Cool Car that drove around the house fast.
The divorce was ugly though <> Pink stuff everywhere !
I had to mention this stuff!

Alright, Ken, fair enough. I jumped to the conclusion that he was hammering on liberals based on the inferred answers he gave to his own question of "What bothers these people about this toy?":
"Is it the fact that the parents are the opposite sex? The wedding ring too old fashioned for today’s out of wedlock babes?"
Was I wrong to jump that conclusion? ;-)

In all fairness, we sometimes look too quickly to blame people for the foolish actions of others. Maybe the Wal Mart management is just paranoid and too sensitive to the reactions of some consumers. Plain & simple. No more and no less.
However, it is weird when a producer places a product upon the shelf, only to have it pulled because of a few complaints. Perhaps we have become overly sensitized, and too politically aware, and have thus dumbed too much down to the lowest common denominator. These actions could be the result of those social pressures upon an already paranoid management looking over its shoulder to prevent needless loss of sales, or worse, Jesse Jackson type boycotts.

No, Barbie was abducted by G.I. Joe and forcibly impregnated. Numerous times. Happened at my house when I was a kid. (Made my sister MAD!!)

YES!!YES!!YES!! BrienoBrien you are my HERO!!!!! One of the most intelligent, insightful commentaries I've read ANYWHERE, ANYTIME!!! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!
I know when I was a kid, I didn't go around looking for a political or moral agenda behind every toy I asked for. All I wanted was something to play with that wasn't going to make fun of me... Too much to ask??? Kids aren't stupid but they also don't always look as deeply as parents think they do. Talk to your children and explain your beliefs if they have a question and don't buy anything you don't believe in and explain why you won't. It's a learning experience both ways then and there's no reason to try to sue some company becuz they corrupted your kid. If you didn't buy it, or explained it from your point of view, they kids would have something to think about before making a decision.
You see the commercials on tv about ask who where when, bla bla about your kids friends and what they're doing...Well it's true. It works more often than not. Talk to them and explain. They're not stupid but they are usually not thinking "OMG unwed mother, can't play with this toy" I imagine some even pretend she's a widower who misses her husband very very much or a divorcee that loves her child more than anything... It's the overzealous parents that keep causing stupid stuff like that. Sometimes I wonder who needs to grow up more.. the parents or the kids.
p.s. No I don't currently have kids but I lost a child and would have done anything in my power to protect that child so I do understand more than some think I do.
Thanx!

Those are traditional family values, not conservative values.

As opposed to the "Left Wing Non-Religious" wackos?
Right wing? yes. Religious? yes. Wacko? that's your opinion. Just don't call my kid stupid while I'm standing near by or we're going to have a problem.

haha hyeah!! i never played with those dolls or barnie things ever. i was a hardcore cowboys and indian player. i liked to shoot things. dolls were always so sissy. i was never inside. haha when i was little my mom's friend had a little girl my age and she would bring the girl over to my house to "play" while they caught up on talking. she would have all her barbies with her and i used to strip them completely naked (no really who hasnt stript a barbie naked). i also wold line them up and get my plastic army men and pretend to shoot down the barbie haha. my older brother had a peewee herman doll that he just loved and one day me and my other brother tied a rope around it and hung it in the closet so that he would upen it up and see it. haha it was hilarious he cried because we hung and killed peewee. my youngest brother had this barnie doll and loved it too. haha i would always pretend to kill it and he would cry but finally he would perfrom some sort of spell on it to "bring it back to life." one day barnies head fell off and nobody knows how. (haha the perfect crime) i know im horrible but i hated that thing.
