just wondering how hard it is to change an injector? about an hour ago i went outside and went to crank my truck and it was bumping like it was running out of fuel and i started smelling deisel so i opened the hood and the first injector towards the front of the motor on the drivers side was bubbling with fuel...should i just try to tighten it or replace it?
deffinatly check the injector cup for cracks. Also its a good possibitliy the o ring **** the bed. do not tighten that could lead to more problems. the injector probobly isnt bad and its not hard to pull out , but you have to be care full when u pull it out because fuel will drain into the cyclinder. so if you pull it either drain the rail inthe head or use a turkey baster to suck fuel out of cyclinder!
onetuff,,,there is 2 o rings beneath the plastic caps on top of each injector. They become dried out from the fuel and that causes them to crack and leak. Go to an injection shop or international dealer and get a return line repair kit for your engine and replace the o rings, fuel lines and plastic caps. Do all of them at once, disturbing the system will make the rest leak. You can use stp to make the caps go over the o rings easier and when done, put the rest into the crankcase.
it seems to me that the fuel was squirting out at the base of the injector below the plastic peice were it threads in,now if i have to change this is priming the systen required?
