looking at a 93 4.0L Ranger with a blown tranny. I have a 93 3.0L 5spd Ranger are the trannys in the trucks the same? Would like to swap the trans out of mine into the 4.0L, can it be done?
i think the bellhousing bolt patterns are diffrent between the 4.0 & 3.0 , the 2.9 should be the same as a 4.0 i had to put a rebuilt 5 spd in my truck 2 months ago, wasnt fun, and 1,100 for a rebuilt trans at that. worst part was getting the hydralic clutch bled.
The 3.0L came from the fwd department and uses only that bellhousing pattern. The 2.8, 2.9, and 4.0 use the same bell. The 2.6L from way back does, too, but I doubt that's much of a swap choice with the 4.0L being around nowadays.
