Question Engine whine in subwoofer

I have a 93 ranger 4.0l man trans.

installed aftermarket cd playler, and tried hooking a sub woofer into truck.
I'm getting a lot of engine noise through the sub, and when cd player is shut off or turn truck off there is a "pop" sound in the sub. rca and power wire are on oposite side's of the drive shaft hump.
Had the exact same equipment in my 93 aerostar, just swapped it over,
has anyone else had this problem.

Thanks

Does it go up and down with RPM's. Make sure it's getting good ground. You may need some "suppression" type spark plug wires.

The most common cause of engine noise (alternator whine) through the amp is improper grounding. Make sure the ground wire is securely attached directly to the chassis. Also, the grounding point should be to bare metal, free of paint, undercoating, etc.

Are your RCA's away from your Power wire?

Also check to make sure you dont have the output wires somehow wired into the input on the amp. I did this on accident and it caused that same thing to happen

This is probably your problem. That is not a good grounding spot, change the ground to the sheetmetal of the cab and see what happens

As quoted from http://www.bcae1.com/battgrnd.htm
"When you ground any electrical accessories (including your amplifiers), ground them to the floor pan. Do not ground anything to braces or the wheel wells. These pieces are generally connected to the floor pan with a few spot welds. If you ground to any spot welded sheet metal, you will have more resistance in the return path. The floor pan will have less resistance. Any extra resistance will lower the voltage at the amplifier and your amplifier will produce less power."
