As I said in a recent thread, I've found rust in my tank. Does anyone have any advice or pointers on this subject? I'd like to keep the cost as low as possible as I'm on a budget, but want to make sure the job is done right so that it will last me a while longer.
Depends how bad. Remove it, steam clean it out and see if it's still looking bad. If it looks better you can run it and/or buy stuff to put in there and recoat it.
Otherwise buy a new one or find a cleaner one at a wrecking yard.
this might sound dumb but i did this many yrs ago and it worked great put 3/4 `` rocks in ur tank with it removed and have u and a buddy shake it(this is the only time u need a buddy to shake it) for 5-10 mins it will loosen up any rust now as long as theres no holes in it from the rust u will have a good tank again
I went to Wal-Mart and bought large bee bee's or ***** used with a rist rocket, a quart of oil and Carb Cleaner. Dumpped it all in the tank, hung it from a tree and shook it around for about 20 minutes. Dumpped all of that out, and put a couple gallons of gas in it to clean anything else left in there. Looked great when I was done....
