fuel tank

I am having problems getting fuel to my carb. I've narrowed it down to the fuel tank being full of sludge, which makes since because this truck has been sitting for quite some time. I pulled the the pickup tube and sender assembly off and got some very nasty slime to come out. So, what do I need to do to clean it out? Can I just remove the tank and stick the hotsy wand inside to flush it out or will that cause more problems down the road?

Thanks
Matt

Fuel tanks are best to be steam-cleaned.

Lightbulb fuel tank

Check out www.EastwoodCo.com They have fuel tank cleaner and treatment kits. Consider this especialy if it is rusty. I used one for my motercycle tank and they work great.

Some radiator shops can clean tanks for you and also patch holes.
