Got a question? I have a F350 and I have noticed a thumping noise in left front wheel. I have new tires new brake pads and just installed new wheel bearings, but the sound is still there. Could it be the rotor the ball joint?
When you changed the brake pads did you also replace the Caliper pins top and bottom, were the rotors turned. If the rotors were not turned they may be slightly warped, this would lift the caliper/pad due to worn out caliper pins, as the warp rotates they go up then drop thus the clunk, clunk, clunk which usually stops when brakes are gently applied.......
One question is this a 2x4 or 4x4........please do a signature with truck info.
check to make sure the spring seat is still there, and intact.
My hubcaps rattle also. When I replace them, I have to give them a quick twist, to keep them from rattling.
Chefandy ......the reason I asked 2x4 or 4x4 was check the bushings under your feet on the rear of the radius arm (2x4) at the frame. Have someone slowly drive the truck forwards then backwards while applying the brakes to see if the whole wheel assy moves back and forth.
That's a very good suggestion. At the age of these trucks, there are very few that haven't seen the radius arm bushings fail. I know my 85 needed them when I bought it.
Yep, I had the same problem. I changed the radius arm bushings and the bracket. The easiest way to change the bushings is to cut the rivets that hold the rear bracket on. I used a torch and washed the head of the rivets away and pounded them out. The reason I changed the bracket is because the hole where the busing stis in was widdled right out. I got the bracket from a parts truck that I have but you can buy them new at Napa. When putting the bracket back on, just use some grade 8 bolts and lock nuts.
