I'm running a '68 428 with an RV cam in a '76 High Boy. I'm having trouble with timing. Can some body give me a clue?
It's got a Dura Spark ignition. The engine was rebuilt 30 over and has about 8000 miles on it. When I got it it ran fine but was set a 0-TDC. I didn't think that was right so I advanced it to 8 degrees BTDC then 10 degrees. It seemed to run fine every where I put it. But this can't be right, I'm looking for a home where I can leave it.
Are you running a points distributor? What problems are you having? How do you know it's a timing issue? What changes have you made to the motor lately?
Too many variables you need to tell us still... --Mike
Man... I like simple..cause it can't be complicated for this barn-yard-mechanic.
I do it...run it up till it pings, back it of and that should be somewhere between 6 and 10 BTDC...Thanks fellas.
