I found a company on ebay that sells Aluminum heads for the 335 series motor does anybody know anything about these heads. I already have a mild 400 in my truck but am looking to make some drastic horsepwer increases. Why? Because I'm bored. lol
Also are they worth the 2100 bucks for a complete set or would a reworked set of cast Aussie heads pull about the same horsepower and torque figures, just without the wieght savings of the alloy heads
will reworked aussie iron heads work as well as the the alum=no, are they worth the money that is all up to you, and what you want, and are trying to gt out of your engine. I well had over $1000 into my iron aussie heads, and that doesn't include the cost of any porting cause I did that myself and theywere pretty good, but when I started on them I didn't know about the heads I showed you, and I would have gone that way if I had, my new engine is a 385 series based stroker, and I am running alum heads on it, but my engines are race only, and what I can get out of them is very important so it is definatly worth the money to me, but only you can decide if it's worth that kind of money to you, plus look into what it is going to cost on reworking the iron heads closely then you can see if it's worth the difference.
Thanx you have been very informative and it sounds like the aluminum heads would be the way to go. I'm not gonna be able to get them for a little while yet because I am on a budget(getting divorced and have a kid). But I am glad to know there is a company out there that supplies these kind of things, and people who will give me the advice I need instead of telling me just to get a 460.
where can I find those heads to take a look at them. My truck is a 2 wheel drive and its not gonna see any offroad action just something to scare the riceburners in my town and take up to the track just to see what it will do.
Only thing with both the chi, and afd heads stay away from the 4v versions the chi 3v version is what Jon Kasse had on his 408 stroker that won the engine masters challange last year, and it also is a good head but the big versions of both heads will kill you on low end hp as both of them flow enough for a well built 460, and I have heard good things about both companies heads although the chi seems to have some compatibility problems with other intakes and some headers.
edit BTW of coarse I will give advice on a cleveland it's one of my favorite ford engines, even though I am switching to a 460 based stroker (528cid) for my truck it's cause they have forced me to run in pro modified, and outlaw classes with my truck and need that extra umph.
Anyone know when Edelbrock is supposed to release their new Cleaveland heads, I cannot find the full specs, and it is not on the books yet. Although it is in their New Release section/pamphlets. Mustang & Fords wrote that at the SEMA show, they were taking orders. No price mentioned though.
