Anyone have any pics of a decent wheel that they have on their 76 F-100 or F-150 ? I don't want anything too busy, and I don't want too "modern" of a wheel for the year of truck. It's a pretty nice looking truck, but I don't want it to look "pimped" out.
I see plenty of wheels I like, but I need some concrete evidence rather than my imagination.
You can check my Centerlines in my gallery. They don't however make this wheel in 15"x8" anymore, but they do have others on their web site that are similar. Most of the manufacturers have web sites you can peruse.
Let me suggest a set of 15x7.5" alloys from an early to mid-ninetys pick-up or Bronco. They are forged wheels, light and strong, with the correct backspacing for our old(er) trucks. They give a more modern appearance, without being "bling-bling".
You can find them at wrecking yards or on eBay for well under $200 per set.
I'm with you on wanting to see the rims on a truck.
I want to know if I can get some 16" rims for a '77 f150. I think that a 23585R16 (10 ply rated) is THE tire to have on a non-lifted truck here in the hunting wunderland of Montana.
I just put new wheels with 265/75-16 load range E 10 ply rated tires on my non-lifted 79 f-150 4x4. I bought pro comp xtreme alloy 1079 wheels. I really don't like the looks of the wheel now that I bought them and have them on the truck. People that I have showed my truck to say it looks good though. I think that that I got used to seeing the factory aluminum 5 slot wheels on it for 26 years so anything I put on it now just wont look right. I would have much prefered to keep the factory aluminum wheels but they are only 6 inches wide and I couldn't fit a big enough tire on them. Anyway I really like the size of tires I chose. They fit good and the ride is so much better. I wanted a taller tire because I need to do a lot of freeway driving and I don't want to change the gears. My truck has never driven so smooth and comfortable on the freeway before. Choosing a 16 inch aluminum wheel can be tough for our trucks. Most of them have a 4.5 inch backspacing which puts the backside of the rim right up against the tie rod. I now know this from expirence. The store I bought the wheels from and the wheel manufacture both said they would work even though I told them they wouldn't. So I had to find a wheel with a 4" backspacing which made the choices slim. Since my spare was now to small I bought a steel 16" wheel and mounted a Load E ten ply rated 235/85-16 like you were talking about. I chose this tire for the spare because it is exactly the same diameter as the 265/75-16 but 1.25 inches narrower. This made it fit underneath well with the stock tire carrier and brackets.
Where are you in Montana? I am in Arizona now but my truck and I are origanly from Montana.
