Wheels and Tires

Hello All....
I am thinking of getting a set of chrome wheels and new tires for my 54. The tires on the truck now are 205/75R15 on black painted steel wheels. The suspension is standard leaf springs and all the fenders are stock size. No modifications have been made to the truck. I want the wheels and tires to be somewhat larger to fill up the wheel wells but I don't know how big is too big. I am thinking of something in the 18" range but I don't know how wide to go with and what offset to use. I want to be able to use a rather stock tire that doesn't cost a fortune and also a reasonably priced chrome wheel. Where is a good place to look for wheel and tire deals?

Thanks for any ideas.
Bob

I am a CL *****, and inherently cheap, so I will leave it to others to recommend a tire store.

If you haven't tried before, here is a tire/wheel visualizer that lets you pick from various styles and sizes and see what they look like on your truck ( 54 F100 is one of the options).

If you have an America's Tire where you live, check them out. The one we have here in Fresno, California is great. Pick out what you think you want. They'll mount it up for you and let you look at it, test it for fit/clearance. If you don't like it, they'll work with you till you find a combination that works for you.
The last time I went in, I was in a tight spot. I wanted just two tires, but the truck needed 4. The manager wouldn't let me leave with 2 dry rotted tires, even though I had originally intended to buy a full set 2 weeks later, when I had the cash, but a flat at work and a tow bill ended that plan early. He insisted I take the full set, and come back when I could pay for the other two, no extra charge.

Needless to say, I've been a loyal customer ever since. And from what I have heard from family in other states, this is pretty much a company that takes care of their customers everywhere they are.

Not sure I'm helping or hijacking, but I'm looking at a set of 18x9 wheels with 4.5" backspace and -12 offset. Can anyone tell me for sure if these will Fitch a '55?

Look at craigslist or ask people here. I have 60's outer bump wheels (16"x5") and commercial T/A 215/85LT16 and it looks great.
