Question tire question

88 BII 2.9l Automatic.

I am looking for new tires and don't know what to get. I use this BII to drive to work and back and want to be able to have some fun too. I really don't want to spend a fortune but need some tires soon. I have original sport type wheels on the truck. Can anyone give me some suggestions. I live in NJ and need to drive it in winter too.
Thanks for helping if you can

Tires

Ive got an 85 B2 and I have 235/75/r15's on mine. They do the trick. Go with the BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A's. Great all around tires.

Hey if you didnt get em already, you should check out Kelly Springfield tires. I have the Kelly Safari AWR and they are great. Not much road noise, take me anywhere i wanna go, and they were barely more than $100 per tire for the 31X10.50's.

Some tire's that I have found, that are all-around good, and not a bad price either, are Yokohama Geolander A/T II's.. they come in all sorts of sizes, up to a 33 x 12.5 and they have very very good ratings, in all catagories. I think they out-performed the BFG All-Terains, not 100% sure bout that though.

While you're still checking, check out MasterCraft and Kumho A/Ts.

Kumho's are good, I didn't think of them. I've seen a lot of the Kumho's on offroad vehicles.. pretty nice stuff.

Yep, I'll co-sign on T/A KOs for street....excellent grip on ice especially, and for general off-roading, but they suck in mud and there are many better and cheaper tires for muddin' and rockin'. You can have some fun with them but if you get into some serious mud or loose/wet terrain, get a winch and tow strap and pair up with another vehicle. Check out this site: Hy-Tech Retreads

I really like the Pirelli Scorpian AT's. They are less than $100 each at Sears, and have great ride and traction in most any condition.
Pirelli Scorpian AT's
They are pretty aggressive, but offer a good ride, reaasonably quiet, and wear really well. I've got 25K miles on mine and still have about 60% tread left, and that's with a bad front allignment. I had a set of them in the P235 75 R15 variety on the BII I used to have, switched them over to the cherokee I replaced the BII with, and then wrecked the jeep. I am currently running them in 32" 11.50 R15's on my 93 Ranger, and have no regrets.

one suggestion that I have if you want to get some tires and not spend a lot of money is the Wal-mart brand. Liberator is the name I think. They are the same as the BF goodrich just not a name brand I bought some a while back and never had a problem with them held up great! just don't let Wal-mart put them on if you can help it I put mine on myself.
