Power take off?

Power take off?
I have a 78 f-250 4x4 straight stick and i want to put a power take off on it to run a hydraulic pump has anyone done this and if so how because Catco here in minnesota will do it for about $1,000 but half of that is labor so i could save alot of money doing it myself

Marcus, if you're handy enough you can put your own together. Check out ebay auction #7961453830. That's an air shift but if you look around you can also find cable shift Chelsea PTO's. They can then be hooked to a hydro assembly if you want. I believe the NP435 has a port for a PTO accessory.
Don't know what you plan to use the hydro for but if it's occasional short use and not continuous you may also consider a 12volt hydro pump which can be picked up for under $200 and will be much easier to set up.

Yep, married NP205 cases do too. What you need to watch for, however, is clearance between the frame and case. A lot of times there's not enough space to fit a PTO in there. Another problem is that typically the exhaust is right in the way. You can have this altered but the $$$ start adding up.
