'76 F-250 4x4 390 headers on '79 F-250 390

I have a 79 f-250 4x4 w/ a 351m & c6 that i am swapping out for a 390 & c6. I was wandering if Hedman's '76 4x4 headers would fit past the 79's crossmember. The application said nothing about motor swaps into later yeared trucks.I know the crossmembers are located in different spots and wondered if they will hit or fit. any info would be welcomed.

poorfolks, I can't say that I have tried it, but you seem to be thinking along the right lines. Most header companies aren't going to make swap headers, there aren't enough of us wanting to do this to interest them. So you take what seems the closest thing, in your case a 76 F250 with an FE, and see if it will work. I haven't used the headman's myself, but have seen some FPA's that tuck in nice and close. Maybe you could look at some of them ? DF, @ his Dad's house

I'd try the Hedman's first. I've got Hedman's on my F100, they fit good. You are going to have to put some effort into getting them into position though. I say just buy 'em, and make sure the place you get 'em from has a good return policy.

I am not sure about the headers. I wanted to ask you what engine to frame mounts you used. I am thinking about the same swap.

its hard to know. i tried several 76 FE 4x4 headers on my '77 1/2 ton with 390 4spd and they had biiig fitment problems. emailed the manufacturers and was told by, thorley, heddman, hooker, jba, etc that no one had anything for me so i am going to be custom making some.
