Have any of you guys tried out PRO COMP all terrain tires on your F350? I have never heard of that brand (was told it was made by BF Goodrich). I was thinking of ordering a set of Lt31575r16. I know the tire is larger than what Ford recommends, but I believe the truck is built well enough to take the extra size without modifying. Thanks for any input
As far as Pro Comp tires go, I've never had them so I can't comment.
The 315/75 r16 is basically a 35" tire. Without some kind of lift you'll only be able to drive in a straight line. That tire is too big for a stock suspension and you'll rub on turns. It is recommended that for 35" tires you run a 4" lift. Pics are in my gallery of the same size tire on a 6" lift. You'll get an idea of how big the tire really is. Imagine trying to stuff those tires under my parent's stock truck (parked next to mine).
The shop where I would be ordering these tires said the tires would be a tight fit but would not rub in turns. I bought this truck used and dont think there is any kind of lift on it. In your opinion do you think there would be a major rub at full turn or possibly in a full turn and riding in rough terrain (bumpy). Maybe I should press the issue with the shop about this. This is a very reliable shop with very apt mechanics. This truck has 28575r16 on it now and there is plenty of room for more tire. Thanks again for your opinion. And I will stress the point farther with the shop
I had ProComp Mudders on my previous truck and liked them. I know these aren't the exact model you were asking about but thought I'd try to help. I just had to watch them close on air pressure, balancing and rotated everyother oil change.
I had Pro Comp A\T's on my 2000 SD,NEVER AGAIN, 305's worked fine with no lift,, 315's wouldnt work at all,, like the guys said you cant turn or they will rub.I got mine from 4wheel parts, and when 2 of them broke belts they wouldnt warranty the tire or help in anyway. I was told to contact Pro Comp Directly, which i did but of course i never got a return call, and I called at least 20 times over a 4 week period. The tires seemed pretty good, not exactly great in the mud but at least average for an A\T tire. Since then I have gone to Coopers,, ran the A\T's for 55000+ miles and Now I have the S\T which is what they call a very aggressive All Terrain tire, and so far they are awesome in mud and wet roads. Only complaint is they make a little noise, not bad though.
You will get into the front bumper when you turn the wheel very much at all, if you have the stock crome bumper. I see guys stand the bumper out a few inches to get the wheel clearance. I have even seen a few guys cut the corner off the bumper slightly to get the fit.
I have been trolling around some of the 35" tires myself, the Procomp Xterrain, sure like the look of those. Guy down the street from me here has some of these with 40K on them right now and they look pretty good still. They are the 305's though. I got 305's Goodyear's on mine right now and I plan to go up to the 315's next.
I have ran the numbers on them and have the 35" tires with the 4.10 gears right now to get more in line with the 305's with 3.90 gear ratio which is what I am wanting. I don't think I would do the 315's with a 3.54 gear ratio. 3.73's might be ok with lots of HP.
The tires to die for are the Nitto-Mud Grappler, they just don't have them in a 16" tire, you would have to buy new wheels in like 18" to run those, plus they are not cheap either. MRB brought the Nitto's up on a post a few weeks ago. I sure like the look of the Mud Grappler's... 3400 pound rating, real heavy side walls and from what I have found pretty good mileage.
I can't pay for new wheels, besides I like the ones I have just fine. So JR, the 4wheelparts didn't make good on the procomps??? That is not what I wanted to hear. Did you also buy their road no hassle replacement warranty? If so I sure won't spend extra money for the warranty LOL...
Now I had a set of the BFG in a 33" mud train some time back that was the worst tire I have had. I seperated the tread on three of the four I had before I replaced them. Now I see guys all over running those and love them. I don't think I could drive across town with those LOL...Now to see someone mention that BFG makes the procomp??? That worrys me some. I see where they advertise they are built here in the USA. Like that part. Not big on you having the trouble MRB did and for it to sound just like the trouble I had with the Mud Train's that BFG makes. Going to have to watch this post with interest. The guy down the street is on his second set of the Xttrain, and has loved those. We have to see what everone has to say about the ProComps...

Of course they didnt have the no hassle warranty when i got my pro comps. The part that really runined it for me was the way 4wheel parts handled it. I was on my way to my deer lease in Kansas, truck and trailer were loaded with all my hunting stuff, going thru downtown dallas when the first one decided to throw a belt,,Luckily (or so i thought) 4wheel parts was 2 exits away, when i got there they went out and looked at the tire and said they had never seen anything like it before and that i would have to contact Pro Comp directly for the 50,000 mile warranty. I explained my situation,100 miles away from home, 400 miles to go blah blah,, all they said was we can mount another one on there for like 225.00 but thats all we can do. I got a little upset and a little loud when they couldnt even find a record of me buying those tires there, of course all my paperwork was 100 miles away.!! 150 bucks later i was on my way to Kansas.Even worse was 2 weeks later on my way back from kansas, the left rear thru a belt,, thats when i got my first set of Cooper Tires. Like i said I liked the tires, 4wheel parts customer service was the issue i had. I too like the X terrains, but the only place for me to get them is 4wheel parts in dallas, and thats not gonna happen.
Oh and for what its worth,, Cooper Tire is the only AMERICAN Owned Tire Co. The rest might be built in the US but they are all owned by some company in another country.
That ain't so good of PR on their part for sure. Might also be why they have the warranty they do now too. All I know is that I sure like the looks and price of the Xterrian's they have LOL. We don't really have a good place here local to gewt them either. There is places that will order them LOL. Well with the web and all, anyone can order a tire...
Can I ask what size your mudders were and if your truck was lifted in any way. Thanks
They were 32"s on a small truck, I know this isn't any comparison to what you're talking. I think I ran them for about 30k and then switched to something less aggresive cause I threw a weight off a back tire and didn't realize it until that tire developed one heck of a shake. I think cause they're were just so loud going down the road. I can tell you they were an unbelievable snow tire!! I went on three 2k plus mile hunting trips with them and didn't have any trouble. But from the sounds of some other's experience I'm now glad I didn't. ALSO, about a month ago when I was looking for tires on my PSD, I did a "google" search on ProComp and found some site were people were slamming ProComp for a lack of Warranty service. I think one guy had sent one of his tires in and they had come back with some crazy explanation for not replacing the tire. Of course I'd don't have anyway of confirming the stories but I thought I throw it out there.
On my PSD I now run Coopers and like them so far (285s w/no lift)
Although I no longer have my psd I ran the Cooper ST on it and like the way they handled on the road. I would run them again. Company truck has the Cooper AT's excellent tire for the highway.

Pro-comps are not made by BFG.
295's are a safe bet on a stock lift, 285's fit no problem....personally I wouldn't go bigger than 295's without doing some type of lift. you could get away with just a leveling kit on your F350 to fit 305's
Personally I like BFG All terrains, and never had any trouble getting 50K mi out of the last 3 sets on 3 different vehicles.
They are also one of the few all terrain Severe Winter Weather rated tires on the market...that's a real plus when it comes to icy roads.
They've been Peterson's tire of the year for quite a few years, and have execellent reviews on Tire-rack.

Fortunately, I dont have the stock bumper. It has a warn winch mounted on a custom bumper. I dont think the tire will rub this bumper as it looks to have plenty of forward clearance. I think I will try them and hope for the best.
Rowdyone I have been interested in the Centramatic balancers for a while now but never got the feedback I was looking for on them. Do they really smooth out the truck like they claim. Any info and feedback on these would help. At 199.00 for a set of 4 I would like to know if there worth it. Thanks..
