well, it seems about once a week i have to post here, now it seems that the cells in my battery keep draining themselves, the battery is 2 days old, shows no sign of leaking or anything else, just like my old battery. the cells in it just drop for no reason, and it dies?? what do ya'll think..i'm stumped
If the cells keeping getting low on water I would say you are overcharging, if they have gone low a few times in the past few days i would say its overcharging bigtime your boiling the water right out of it, do you have a volt/ohm meter ? Take the truck to autozone they can test the whole works right outside and see what your charging and even load test your battrey, batteries plus also does this
well, no the battery isn't deforming, but wouldn't you think after swapping 2 alternators, and voltage regulators at the same time that it would have to be something different? oh well guess its just my luck though.
Where are you getting your batteries from? I had a problem with batteries from hi-lo, until I realized that that was what the problem was. I bought an autozone battery and it was in my mustang for 3 years! Started perfectly every time. Also, Interstate makes a good battery.
Just a thought.....

battery, i dunno, but its huge, like a marine battery...it seems to be holding up after it was refilled and charged..maybe i left my key switch on?? lol who knows
Leaving the key on won't cause the battery to "GAS" or Boil over.
Gassing or boiling the cells is a result of overcharging like the guys above have said. Your battery won't last too long with a constant over charge. When you fill the cells, use DISTILLED water or purchased electrolyte, then check for specific gravity of 1.285 (if I remember correctly as fully charged) a cell hydrometer will tell you this.
is your Regulator external??
does it have a 1 way plug or are the terminals individual where you might have possibly reversed 2 or more of the leads.
this is more common than most people realize.
Find a shop in your area that specializes in nothing but Alternators/Generators, Starters and charging systems.
Have them do a complete systems check, including wire tracing, continuity checks on the wires, and making sure you have the correct alternator/regulator combination. Good possibility your regulator is bad or the alternator is putting out full field voltage and is bypassing the regulator direct to the battery.
its an external voltage regulator, i've changed the alt twice, the one before was doin the same thing this one is, i also changed the voltage regulator, now how in the world, after changing these two parts, could it continue to do that? i'm stumped.
Just goes to show, that this truck is proving my essence of mechanical humility
