'83 f100

I have an '83 f100 w/302 that has sitting up for 3 or 4 years, I try to start it it backfires and when it does start it will not idle. it has 2bbl carb with auto choke and there are no mixture adjustment screws on it.what do I need to do?

Because it has been sitting for so long, there may varnish built up in the carb. Rebuild it.

Bad gas. Clean/rebuild carb. Drain and refill tank. Replace fuel filter.

i have an 83 f100 with a 302 and it has idle mixture screws on the carb. they are hidden underthe float bowl cant hardly see them.

Thanks guys for all the info. I rescued this truck from sitting in the bushes and am fixing it up for my son.I'm sure I'll have more questions before I'm through with it.
