bad mec. fuel pump??

Hey all, I need some help, I think my fule pump is going. there are no major symptoms yet, but I have a small pool of fuel in the valley. also rarely if I start the truck and just move abit then shut it down wehen I go to re start it it some times sputters abit befor catching. not bad and not often.
I checked my pressuer and its at 50 ish but the guage bounses so much its hard to get an exact read. so should i repalce the fuel pump? will it do any damage to leave it the way it is? thanks for the helpJ

I had the same problem with fuel in the valley and found it was the washers that goes between the fuel pump and the bolt used for the banjo fitting at the back of the fuel pump. There thin and seal the fitting when the bolt is tightened down. I just went to Ford and got a couple more and everything has been good since i replaced them.

50 lbs of fuel pressure is right where a stock truck will run. And its normal for the pressure to spike. I would think the fuel pump isn't your problem.
