My 2000 Ranger XL 2.5 LT.didn't come equipped with cruise.Didn't think i would need it when i bought it new ,but after years of driving around with a crampy gas pedal for my foot I thought it might be nice to have. Can a kit be bought for this and installed without much trouble? Someone told me they're not that hard to install on Rangers but I find that hard to believe.Whats the real story?
I bought my 99 w/o cruise and installed the accessory kit myself. It is not difficult, only common hand tools are needed except for maybe a steering wheel puller. Make sure disconnect the battery first thing, because very early in the job you will be removing the driver's airbag and you don't want that going off in your face. Make sure you get the instructions with the kit; they are in pictograph and every foreign language you don't know how to read in addition to english. This was a constant irritation but it is important to carefully follow them because you will be cutting into the wiring harness a couple of times. Once you finish be very careful how you use the controls. My kit has two button sets that mound on the steering column (identical to OEM installs) but the switch housings are lightweight plastic. If you punch these buttons like a pay phone, in time they will break off. I have repaired mine but he best procedure is not punch them with your thumbs but rather squeeze them between your thumb and index/middle finger, sort like using a hypodermic needle. PM me if you want more details. Mike B
I finally made up my mind to put one in, now I can't find a kit anywhere.Autozone said they used to get them from Audiovox for 99$ and they sold like crazy and worked well but now they can't get them for some reason and neither can Advance.Anyone know where i can get one for around that price??
No but I found a webpage for Audiovox with a ccs 100 universal kit and Pep Boys supposedly has it according to they're locator and thats reachable driving for me for me to pick up.Would this work for my truck???It says no additional accessories required for vehicles manufactured between 1985-97.Heres the link:http://www.audiovox.com/webapp/wcs/s...1067&langId=-1
http://www.scsfrigette.com/ These folks make a cruise control that works very well and isn't to hard to install. I don't know where you live but I found a distributor in Oklahoma city, OK
Called Pep Boys they don't have any in stock right now and they cost 99.00 and they only get them in one at a time (thats weird) and hes not sure if it will work on my truck but is supposed to work on everything. Then I called scs frigette and they asked me if i wanted electric or vaccuum,i asked which is easier to install and he said electric so they give me a number for a distribution center for a price check and for my truck its about 180.00 for the kit.Just got off the phone with Ford and they want 366.00 for they're kits,, so looks like i'll be getting an after market one after hearing that.Just check ebay and couldn't find a complete kit for a 2000 Ranger, alot of 01-03

I put the SCS Frigette kit on my '98 Mazda B2500 and also my son's (same truck) and it was pretty easy. The first one took about 3 hours, the second one I did in under 2. Paid $175 for each kit. You can find them on eBay as well from the same good folks. I highly recommend this setup. Feel free to PM me if you want any details or help with it.
I bought a factory ford cruise control kit on ebay for $160 shipped about 6 months ago. I installed it myself and it took a little time but the result was awesome. You cant tell my truck didn't come with cruise control. The switches even light up and dim with the gauges, it's cool.
Hey if any one could,,could they show me some pics where they mounted the servo in the engine.I don't want to drill into something I shouldn't be drilling into.
