I installed the Factory kit which the servo mounts to the passenger fender next to the windshield washer resevior and there is a cable that goes from the servo to the throttle linkage.
I mounted mine where the factory servo goes passenger fender just in front of the blower motor housing. Mine is the SCS vacume model and I attached the extra vac ball to the receiver drier with wire ties then ran the cable through the bracket that the factory cruise would use. Set the SCS unit it up to use 8000 pulses per mile and use the Gray with black stripe wire for the VSS input that goes to ecm unit
Not to hijack the thread, but may I ask an additional question? After following this thread, I went to Ebay and looked up the Ford kit. The only one I found said 98-2001. Does anyone know what I could use, preferably factory, on my 97 2.3 manual?
The kit i bought on e-bay is for 97 and up ranger and explorers. The part number is F87Z-9A818-AA and it cost $160 shipped. The kit is for the 4 cyl, and i out it on a 2002 3.0. Everything went super smooth except for one thing. The throttle cable is different for the 3.0 and i got the one for the 2.3 but i was able to make it work in the factory location usuing a hose clamp and a piece of rubber to hold it in place and you cant see it cause of the cover that goes over the linkage. If had absolutelly no problems with this kit and i highly recommend it. It is factory ford and is probably the best mod i did to my truck. FYI. It's a very involved installation, which requires removing the airbag, steer wheel and lower dash panels, and requires changing out the wiring in the steering column with wiring that is supplied. Everything is in the kit, and i mean everything down to the quick slice connector you need to tap into the speed sensor wire and a new screw for almost every screw you have to remove.
I'm almost positive that it will work for your truck, but if you want to double check, see what part number the dealer calls for, and you can confirm it that way.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I have an appointment in a few weeks at the dealer, so I'll do it then.
You can do that or if you're inpatient like i am just call them and ask for a price and then ask them for the part number and tell them you'll order it another time when you ccan afford it. It's an easy way to get numbers without making the parts guy feel like you're using him.
