Glowplug Controller 7.3L and battery draw
You may have to look for your short if that is what it turns out to be, there was probably a two way radio, extra lights, lift gate that all had power to them. If the wires were just cut off when this stuff was removed the short could be anywhere.
The reason I asked about a manual was you could pull it to get it started and get it home after the auction, but the auto blows that.
Looks like it was a city truck and they usually do not care much about appearance, but generally do the mechanical upkeep on a schedule. It would be nice if you could get a copy of the maintence records for that truck.
I just realized you are not that far from me. We looked at a job doing site development for a housing development up there a couple of years ago. WODA Development just behind an Arby's resturant if you know where that is.

Truck didnt have snowplow. I think that it is a short somewhere because the truck did have an electro-hydraulic crane in the bed it has been taken off. The truck does run good but it sits for a long time without starting so without good glowplugs or decent cranking amps it hasnt started in a few weeks but a few weeks ago I did start it up and ran great. Went a couple of days ago and was unable to start it. Did notice some wires that were "hacked up" being they were changed from the last time I was there after the crane was off.
So, maybe they cut a wire to the fuel cutoff solenoid or the fuel pump and didn't know?????
It shouldn't take me but a few days to get it running if nothing major is wrong.
We have a flat bed trailer GVW 7500lbs to haul it home.
Thanks, Jeremy
The trailer is going to weigh at least 2500 and that only leaves 5000 for the truck.
With that utility bed on it and dual wheels you will be close to 8000 pounds.
We have a 16 foot 12,000 pound 6'10" wide trailer we haul our skid steer around on. One of the guys I work with has a Dodge 3500 dually with a gas motor that broke and we hauled home on it. That was all that trailer wanted for a load. Plus the outside duals were hanging over the sides of the trailer bed. We also had to take the ramps off the trailer after it was loaded because they would not go up.
Jeremy
My flat bed dump will weigh about the same as that utility box.
After I lightened the picture up, I now see that it is a single rear wheel.
Thanks, Jeremy
