Hi. Just wondering if anybody else has had this problem. On my 2002 F150 XTR Scab, the power mirrors (both left and right) move up, down, and to the right, but not to the left. Presumably, this means there must be a dirty contact or other problem within the actual switch. Anybody else had this problem? Any idea how to remove the power mirror switch from the interior door? Will I have to remove the whole door panel?
I have the same probem too. Mine works three ways(up, down and right). I belive my problem is also the power toggle stick (atleast underneath it in the inner working components anyway). Any insight on how to fix it would be nice to know without going to an eletrical repair person.
Glad to know I'm not the only one who's had this problem. I figure it'll likely go away (at least for a while) if I get in there with some contact cleaner, but I'd like to know the easiest way to get the switch out first... Hopefully somebody will know.
Just firmly pull out the whole power window/lock/mirror assembly out. You can also use a taped up (to prevent scratches) flat screw driver and pry it loose. The whole piece comes out and then you can clean it. Hope that solves the problem.
my 98 was like that. took the actual controller apart and cleaned the contacts inside it. if you do this , watch the small parts. mine worked fine after i did that.
Hey, thanks for your help. Once I knew how to remove the switch, I got it apart no problem. You were right, there are a ton of small parts in there. I could actually see where one contact was corroded, I cleaned it up, and the mirrors are working fine.
Without gutters guess where the water drips when you open the window???? You are right!!! Right on the switches. Great engineering. By The Way, it's not just Ford.
