I just found something "extra" on my verizon long dist. phone bill. I was charged $81.03 for two calls made to Diego Garcia on Dec 27th. I researched the info that was provided by Verizon about the third party company that charged me for the calls. The company known as USBI at www.billview.com/usbi got my phone #, phone company, and billing info off my computer while I was on the internet and used it to post false charges on my bill. If any of you get bored, look over the last year phone bills and make sure there aren't any strange calls to far away places that you never heard of. I have written Verizon and am hoping they just wipe that charge off my bill, it is definitely a scam. They are out there hunting us, probing our PC's all the time, and be sure to stay away from ****! That is where most of this crap comes from. Do not surf unprotected and keep your browsers wrapped in the latest security blanket. signed: another sucker
i happen to like unprotected **** that happened to me once, i havent saw the bill yet and my wife got them to drop the charges. (not verizon though..local phone co.)
One time a few years ago, we had a charge like that on our phone bill. My mom got the bill and looked at it and there were charges to calls made to Africa. We did not make any of those calls. The charge was for like $50 or something like that. Don't know if she was able to get it written off or not. My aunt who lives behind us also had the same type of thing happen to her
You would think a good firewall would have prevented them from getting in and grabbing your info. Even though I use one, I don't have any personal info on my computer just in case. A long time ago I had it setup on here to auto compleat online forms for me untill I found out the hard way that any info you send out to the net gets sold to spammers and scammers which I guess is one in the same. It's a shame that the internet has almost gotten like walking down a dark alley in a bad neighborhood, you never know when your gonna get clobbered.
I had my calling card number stolen and had calls made to Columbia, Guatemala, and Puerto Rico. The Phone Company actually called us and asked if they where our calls.
yeah now that you mention it I"ve been scammed by the same company, in the process of writing a letter to my phone company. Guess it's what i get for using my phone number online. D'oh!@

I have verizon, they overcharged us on text messaging, they said i had sent 53 and received 74, and my stepsis was said to have sent 400+ and received over 700. This was in january, i have sent a total of 30 since then, and received nearly 40, my stepsis has done about the same, I don't know what my parents did about the charges, if anything, it was about 50+ in charges that we didn't do, so who knows what happened there, I don't give out my number at all, I refuse to, I refuse to give out any personal info if i don't know where it is going to. Had a credit card company the other day, wanting me to give them my SSN, i'm sorry, no, when i said no the first time, they were like, we understand your concern, i was like, no, i refuse to give that out, and they hung up, then my roomies got the same calls, go figure. I definately don't on the net, the only time i ever have on the net was for school stuff, applications for school that is, and then for federal aid, thats it, and thats about all i will do.
Yes they hire people to just go down the roster of people in college and do the calls for different companies. Our son just graduated from college and he got calls all the time. Best thing to do is don't even talk- just hang up. As far as the text msg. If it isn't important to have . Just have it disabled. Get voice mail. I have had text msg come in on all our phones at once. Reported it to nextel. They took it off our bill and put a blocker on all our phones for that ip address. Haven't gotten anything since (2 years). I know the text msg is nice but is it worth the cost? Especially if you don't know who is doing it. Just thoughts from a dad
