I need to know where the EOT is on my 96, cuz I have narrowed its problem down to that. The only reason I don't go out and start looking is cuz it's 12* right now with a 20 mph wind. SO...... Where is the lil bugger so I can run out, swap the new one on and try it, before I freeze.
I have the Ford manual on disk...like i sposted before...never worked on a diesel before...and really do not have a grasp on the abbriviations...what is the EOT...ill look it up for you really quik, should be the same as a 94...
Engine Oil Temperature sensor. The pcm uses it to read the oil temp, to decide how warm the enine is, to advance the SOI and it also affects the tranny shifts, raises line pressures.
As long as it is a Powerstroke it will be in the same location.
for wahtever reason I couldn't find it on the disk...but a lil research on the internet found me this...
Disconnect the Engine Oil Temp (EOT) sensor at the rear of the oil reservoir. This will cause the PCM to energize the glow plug relay for 2 minutes, and set a code.
SO Im guessin it is on the oil reservoir...Im still looking htough
if i remember right the EOT is right at the HPOP hmm.. left side as you are looking from the grille, connected to a tube about 3/4inch dia. that runs down towards lefthand exhuast manifold.. try that lemme know, It kinda looks like a icp sensor right?
Thank you I will look tomorrow when it is light out. it will give me a start. I have the sensor, I know what it will take to get it out, just didn't want to search for half an hour in the cold.
Rynl88 I didnt see you post till now. you are thinking of the Exhaust back pressure sensor. uses that in conjuction with the map sensor to determine EBPV operation, and if it has to defuel the engine at all. there usually right behind the alternator, or near the hpop area. yes it does look like the IPC.
the new sensor, the EOT, has a two prong, weather tight plug on it, a 9/16 possibly 5/8 head on it, threads into something.
thanks guys I will be back tomorrow. got to go the GF is calling wanting to know where i am so....... PSD's or women??? sometimes you got to lose to win. later
Thanks cookie. just went out and looked at, seen it a hundred times just never realized what it was for. now for the fun part of trying to change it and not let the hpop drain all over everything.
