[updated:LAST EDITED ON 21-Nov-01 AT 02:10 PM (EST)]They seems to be the cheapest on the net for extended warrantys. Their titanium plan 3/36 seems to cover a fairly comprehensive number of things. $949 with a $50 deductible. Anyone out there with some experiences in aftermarket extended warrantys please chime in with some advice here. The only thing that keeps me from buying this thing is the idea that I will spend almost $1000 and every other repair my Expedition goes in for will somehow not meet the "coverage criteria" because the snerflnitz caused the engine to blow or the reedervator valve caused the transmission to puke and neither of those items is covered so your repairs arent covered.
HELP!
I would check with your local dealer where you would take the vehicle for service. Most do not work under these warranties since you must get authorization before the work is done and that can be a real pain. Also they get burnt on payments. I called my local dealer and asked as I was thinking about one my self. I spoke with service manager and was told they do not honor any thing they did not sell.I bought one thru the dealer. Since I paid the dealer getting repairs if needed shouldn't be a problem. I figured since he took my money he had better honor what he sold me. If not I also have credit card fraud protection since I put in on my VISA. Hope this helps
I have not personally used the one i have on my 1999 contour. It will not take effect till 36,000 miles.... But I have learned that the extended warrenties are just a `policy` that has a set money limit, and that is what you are buying. Like they will not pay out more than ...say... 1,500 in any 6 month/1 yr period. And yes there has to be an approval first. I do believe that Dealers HAVE to honor them .The warenty company will put preasure on the dealer..
What if you are out of town and not at the dealer you purchased the vehicle from.
I also know that dealers SOAK the customer for the `policy`.
I was offered mine at the time of sale(new Car) for the bargain price of 2,500...... I went on the internet BEFORE i went to the dealer and knew that i can do the same thing for 780.00...
All the policies are underwritten by several Ins. Co.`s but sold under many names...
I Verbally reamed the finance guy and after the purchase i sent the info to Ford Motors in detroit...
