my 87 ev troubleshooter says check fuse link at starter relay. then check grounds are clean and tight at g112(lh side of dash panel) g203(on ground bus at left hand side of y brace). the last one grounds the fuel system i think. its hidden at the bottom of the LH y brace on its left side. hope this helps.
it mentions to check fuel pump relay but gives no location. the fuel pump cut off relay is on the left hand side of the dash.
What is "Y brace", and how do I identify it?
Is "fuel pump cut off relay" in the dash?? Is it the same as Fuel pump relay?
cut off is to stop the pump in turn over crashes. probably not your prob.
the y brace is a "y" or "v" shaped metal bracket located in the engine comp. on the firewall left side. at the bottom of the "v" or middle of the "y" there is a ground. its on the left hand side of this brace.
the inertia switch leads to the relay which grounds at the starter relay with a fuse link. the other fuse link i think goes to the battery. if you found the inertia switch you might be able to follow it.
i'll check my fluids later and take alook in my 87 to see if i can find my links.
the book says to check the grounds first. i'm not sure of the dash ground it just says LH side. with the code you got it sounds like a ground issue. hope its cheap and easy when you find it. the site i mentioned in my last post shows how to test the "brain" in case you need that info in the future.
the link at the battery i believe grounds the "brain". i don't think you'd get a 95 code if its loose but it will cause trouble. i would double check your battery connections for good measure. if the battt. moves in the box it could have loosened up.
me again sorry the y brace is inside the van. i read it backwards. its a metal brace behind the dash actually about in the middle of the firewall you'll find the center of the "Y". towards the left there will be a small peice of metal bolted in. the fuel system grounds there along with another wire.
sorry for spammin everyone. if you click my name i put a photo of the page showing the ground. the pen points at the spot, and the blow-up on the bottom right is a close up of that ground. good luck
glad to hear it. the "electical and vacuum trouble-shooting manuel" "EVTS" are helpful and are found on ebay, got mine for $5.00 plus S&H. hope she runs well for a long while.
if the ground issue was your trouble all along you might want to revise your other thread to help folks that might be searching for a similiar answer. good luck. c ya.
