1977 F250 4x4 351M Truck has been sitting for 4 years, the hood is on and the engine is all complete. The cow to hood seal is gone. There was water lying on the back of the intake. Any thoughts how the water got in the engine?
Thanks
did you check the oil does it have water in it if no then don't i wouldn't worry the hood to body is not water tight one thing I would do before even turing over with the starter is to prelube the engine seen wat to many fords spin mains because of dry crank from sitting for long periods
dump the oil and pressure check the cooling system you could have a coolant leak into the motor did it ever freeze while sitting possibly with weak or no antifreeze ? did it have anti freeze in it or just plain water? is there anti freeze in the oil
You didn't mention how much water there was in the oil but if the weather conditions are right in your neck of the woods (and it sounds like it could be with the intake water puddles), you could have a considerable amount of condensation that has formed inside the block over a four year period. I would look at the coolant in the radiator to see if it is just water or if it has temp protecting coolant in it. If it's water only, you may have a cracked block.
