Here is the story. I recently got a 2005 F250 Crew Cab FX4 V8 Gas Shadow gray mettalic. I now have a little money to give it some extras $3500 worth. My ideas range from trading in my tires now(only have 800 miles on them) get something a little bigger and probably a leveling kit(maybe a lift), a K and N air fileter, headers and exhaust, Westin push bar with lights, front bug guard, window shields(not sure of the name, keeps the rain out when your window is cracked), husky floor mats, any other modifications yall can think of. Does anybody have a suggestion for improving horespower and gas mileage? Oh yeah I all ready gave it a spray in bed liner and Wet Okale set covers. Any help would be great.

Tires would be a good step foward if you plan on taking it off the road or have snow where you live.Performance wise I would look into a programmer . Vent shades is the window shades your looking for.One thing I can think of that you don't have listed is window tint on the front windows to match the rear on the crewcab.Sounds like a nice truck keep it happy and it will treat you will
CC,
Headers and exhaust didn't do squat for my 2002 V8 gasser. Save yourself some of that $3500 and skip the cat-back exhaust system as well. Just replace the stock muffler with a high-flow muffler and have a nice exhaust tip welded on. It'll save you a couple hundred.
Word of caution about the power programmers. That word being: WARRANTY. Careful you don't lose your warranty coverage by using one. The truck's computer will show changes at Ford if warranty matters ever come into play. And Ford, like all other vehicle manufacturers ALWAYS look for a way out of footing the bill for a warrantied item or repair.
Go ahead with all the dress-up stuff that suits your fancy. Lift kits and leveling kits "should be ok" as far as warranty stuff is concerned, but do a search on this forum. There's a sobering amount of information regarding lifts/tires/wheels and how they affect warranty, etc. So, tread there with caution.
And lastly, I'd advise AGAINST messing with anything mechanical or computer-related that'll come back to haunt you later should an unfortunate circumstance arise. I know this is probably NOT what you wanted to hear, as I can sense you're anxious to dress up the new ride, but I'd sure hate for you to blow $3500 (or a good deal of it) and have buyers remorse later.
Meantime, congrats on your new truck.... Sounds like a beauty!!!
Thanks for the help fellows. DSO2F250 what muffler do you recommend? The only muffler I know of people putting on is Flow master? I know there are more out there I am just not familiar with them. thanks CC

Flowmaster, DynaFlow or DynaMax. Research each's website and get flow-rates, do a price comparison, etc. The different "series numbers" (ie, Series 50, Series 70, and so on) for the Flowmaster's have very different sounds. Be weary of the loud, rumpity-rump cool sounding mufflers. They sound really cool at first, then you get tired of the noise penetrating the cab so loudly. If possible, listen to other trucks and find out what they're running. Even get in (parked at idle and driving around decible levels)them and listen if possible.
Most GOOD muffler shops will have done a ton of exhaust systems for guys and their trucks. Describe to them what sound you're going for and get their opinion. If you want loud, get loud! If you want a mellow, throaty sound on the outside that's merely a mellow "drone" on the inside, ask for that. Make sure you mention any mod's to the engine or exhaust system that you now have or will have in the future.
I hate to be the "stick in the mud", but the best place for that money is paying off the note. Of course this would be assuming that it's not paid off already.

Common sense is NEVER considered being a stick in the mud in my book. Tough to talk sense with a kid in the candy store though! Either way he decides, so long as he feels it's rewarding and it brings him a smile.... So be it.
