I believe you are looking for Ford-issued 8-spoke wagon wheels (15" x7" wide with a 3.75" backspace) with the black center hubcaps (screwed to the rim with three bolts having a slotted top). You can easily find these rims in trucks and full-sized Broncos dating from 87 until early 90's, and they were grey-colored with chromed centers caps having a red insert, plus trim rings in stainless steel wit two red stripes. Simply find these grey colored rims, paint them white and find the black, plastic hubcaps. See the pictures that 79driver (above) has in his gallery. That is the look you want/need to be as original as possible. FYI, some limited Bronco models (Eddie Bauer editions) had these rims in 15X8" (not as common, but I have seen several at junkyards, in these the backspacing is 4"). I just installed these rims (in 15X7) in my '78 Custom and look great (I'll be posting pics tomorrow). I bought 5 rims for about $45.00 in local junkyards.
I could be wrong, but I was under the impression that the later style wagon wheels(grey), don't have the correct backspacing. A friend of mine had to use wheel spacers.
You can basically use any factory-issued 15-inch wheel from 1973 to 1996 interchangeably in any of the same years F100 and F150 models. As far as I know you just do not want to exceed the maximum backspace of 4 inches (which was found only in some Bronco issued 15x8" steel, 8-spoke, grey-colored rims) Remember this maximum backspace for any aftermarket 15" rims. The generic and plentiful grey- or white-colored 8-spoke Ford truck rims are 15x7" with a backspace of about 3.5" or 3.75". In my opinion the best looking ones are the aluminum 10-holes (late style, without rivets; 15x7.5" with a 3.75" backspace) that came on XLT-trimmed trucks and full-sized Broncos in about '94-'96. Having said that, you may want to carefully look at what tire sizes (widths and heights) you pick with these and any rims as to not run into rubbing your wheelwheels or steering/brake components (me, I stick to near stock tire sizes, 235/75-15 or 255/70-15 or 30"x9.5"-15).
I too like the aluminum 10 hole wheels, but at only 7.5" wide the sizes that
superbepro listed are about it. I have ARE 15x8 black wagon wheels(ARE567 IIRC) with 31x10.5 with no issues whatsoever. I'm not sure what backspacing they have, though I'm sure it's the stock wheel spec.
p.s. They were $50 a pop and look great.
