I have the Predator. If your refering to the SCMT 1704, the SCMT has a better program for the transmission over Predator. Both are good flash units.

Gosh - this WILL start some "debate"....

you have to decide who you believe says what you care about in a tuner....

I too have the predator and have for 2 years...
it as worked well for me....
especially like
1) the on-line updates instead of having to turn off the tune, ship it back, and drive STOCK (Yuck) for a week or two

2) the predator "grin" when you put those hemis in their place (behind you )

There aren't that many people on the site who've owned both tuners and who can comment as to which is better.

Of those who have, it seems that the SCMT does get better marks for shifting, though that wasn't the case early on. SC listened to user feedback and softened up the part throttle shifts and now everyone is quite happy with the shifting.

The SCMT is reported to have slightly lower EGTs than the Predator, both unloaded and towing.

The Predator and SCMT do seem to make their power in different parts of the power band so the seat of the pants meter will perceive the ride differently. I think the Predator makes it's power a bit lower in the RPM range and the SCMT carries it on out a bit higher.

I have the SCMT but think that I would have also been quite happy with the Predator had I purchased it instead. Both are good products.

I use the SCT flash method in combo with the Edge and I really like it. And it's update-able via email from the folks who tuned it.

Talking

Just this morning i installed the Preadator. including one mistake i made with the ignition cycleing it was about 15 minutes. The first cold start went well with a few harsh shifts. the manual says takes about five cold starts. but believe me i could feel the power that was available. ijust want to baby it a little at first.

Took someones advice about putting a battery charger on instead of disabling or turning off the powere for guages and accessories. this eliminates any voltage flucuations while loading the program.

Guess i better warn my wife before she puts her lead foot into it because she will break those rear tires loose. HEEHHEEHEE

I think your tranny is more important than updating your programmer. I feel the ( fuel boxes ) are what are bad.......My opinion

The newer tuners are coming.............so it time for others to step up or get left behind.

Take a look at the tech folder and follow the Torqushift Learning procedures when loading programs. Takes the harshness out. It makes it smooth and quiet. Just follow the procedures like you had the batteries disconnected.

Yes...the fuel boxes are harder on the tranny. But...if you get the SCT with the transmission tune which is custom for using with the "fuel box" Edge...the shifting is firmed way up and the wear on the tranny is much improved. There is no HP or Torque added...just tranny improvements. Level's 2 and 3 are HP and Torque if you want to put the fuel box on stock and just run your level 2 or 3.

Hey Max - No prob....
know where you are coming from....
just saying that I've never had a NEED to do the tranny relearning in two years of ownership....
it works super as is and don't really believe in my case that it COULD shift any betta

I mean, if I had a standard I couldn't keep up with how fast it snaps thru 1 thru 3rd @ wot from a standing start !!!
