a high rise intake isn't good for a mostly stock engine. you will lose low end torque. to take advantage of the high rpm flow capabilities of the high rise you will need a bigger cam. to keep the engine in the RPM range where it makes power, you will need a higher stall torque converter (if you have an auto trannie) and better gears out back.
If you still have the 2bbl carb, I assume the engine is mostly stock. you should look into the Action Plus intake by Weiand or maybe the stealth by weiand. Those would work well. Both are dual planes, and they are good for applications where low rpm torque is needed. edelbrock performer is the same deal.
