Here's some news for ya! Have a 96 windstar, 147k on it. only used Supertech oil and filter and change it when I get to it, 3,4 or 5k. Now that my 65 F100 I6 is up and running again will use it in her too. The only time I have a problem was when I owned a 82 S-10, spund a bearing but was using that Duralub stuff. At first it gave great power and drive it from Norfolk to Memphis, two months later it WAS a FORD ( Found On the Road Dead ). So now I'll just use Wally World oil and filter. . . . . . . . .

Delo 400 and Rotella are the bands I ran in my small fleet of large trucks.
Rotella is a little bit cheaper...but for 6 quarts and not 5 gallons I wouldnt worry too much about cost and go for the Delo.

Hi Jim (65-f100),

Just enjoy your truck and don't fret too much about gauge readings, as long as the engine runs well and strong, and isn't burning oil. I used to get worked up about the temp gauge on my '88 Club Wagon because it always runs right below the "H" mark. After having it shop checked several times and finding the engine temp right where it should be, I just chalk it up to a maverick gauge. Part of the rig's "personality," if you will.

My belief is that most oil and most filters are fine for normal driving. Frequent changes ensure that a driver gets the best the products have to offer, and provide more opportunities to tinker and get to know one's truck. It seems to me that oil and oil filters usually get the attention, while air filtration is more or less ignored. IMHO, sifting grit and crud out of the intake air before it ever has a chance to fall into the oil is at least as important as filtering the engine oil.
