I have the oppertunity to buy a 410 merc for about 100 bucks its complete even a flywheel and dampner so I wont have a problem with the different balance differance I want to put it in my 1970 f-250 4x4 anyway can I use 390 aftermarket pistons or is the pin height differrent and is there any other differances I am going to want to watch for with the 410
I asked about 410 pistons and what correct compression ratio to run and the first thing they wanted to know is what is the cc's of the cylinder heads that your going to use ,,, and right now I didnt have then off to check yet . So
I dont know what the cost is going to run yet ,,,,,,,,,,,
as far as heads the stock 410 heads on it should be either a c6ae a or a c7ae aa wich are both 71.2 to 74.2 cc I have a set of d2te aa with 68.1 to 71.1 cc and a set of c8ae b 67.1 to 70.1 cc so I guess the 410 heads would be the ones to use with todays gas I want a drivable engine with good torque and throtle response its not a daily driver but a weekend play truck and hunting truck
For $100 you better go buy it right away!!! You can find pistons just check with Dennis at DSC. The crank alone is worth $350. I sold a 410 that needed ot be rebuit for $400. The guy put it in his wife's pullin truck and is kickin but with it. Tim R.
